What is pupil premium?
The pupil premium is additional funding given to publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers. Headteachers and school leaders can decide how to use the Pupil Premium.
Brimsdown is a larger than average primary school serving a diverse community on the outskirts of Enfield. The school deprivation indicator is above the national average. We provide a harmonious, happy learning environment where pupils feel valued and listened to. We aim to provide a secure but exciting atmosphere to support pupils to gain a joy of learning.
Our key objective in using the Pupil Premium Grant is to diminish the differences between pupil groups. As a school we consistently track all groups of pupils to ensure that they make good or better progress.
Funding for 2018 to 2019
In the 2018 to 2019 financial year, schools will receive the following funding for each child registered as eligible for free school meals at any point in the last 6 years:
£1,320 for primary-aged pupils
£1900 for each Looked-After child
£1900 for each child who has ceased to be looked after because of adoption, a special guardianship order, a child arrangements order or a residence order
Brimsdown provides a harmonious, happy learning environment where pupils feel valued and listened to. We aim to provide a secure but exciting atmosphere to support pupils to gain a joy of learning. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive school where the promotion of equal opportunities underpins our practices. Our key objective in using the Pupil Premium Grant is to diminish the differences between pupil groups. The school’s evaluation of its own performance is rigorous. Tracking of progress over time for each pupil is thorough in order to identify any areas for development and to ensure that we implement any interventions necessary to close the gap. These assessments happen at least termly and data is gathered, collated and analysed to assess the impact of interventions as well as to highlight the potential need for additional support.
In 2018-19, we will use a range of data to analyse the impact of spending:
End of Key Stage data
In house current data
Outcomes of learning reviews (observations), learning moderations (book scrutinies) and progress meetings
